This course enables you to combine Spanish lessons at Academia Uruguay with the work at a ranch (an agriculture and livestock farm). The ranch is located in Lavalleja, a department of Uruguay located in the southeastern part of our country, surrounded by hills and only 3 hours away from Montevideo.
The program’s aim is to encourage students’ cultural immersion as well as the continuous practice of the language. The educational proposal of Academia Uruguay leads the participants to a 24-7 learning: the group lessons, the extracurricular activities, the language workshops, the work at the ranch, the accommodation with a Uruguayan family, etc.
This ranch is a very special place, with a long history dating back to the early 19th century and very nice and proactive hosts, willing to share their house and daily life. We highly recommend this program to students of all ages and backgrounds; the only requisite is to have interest in the activities and a rural lifestyle.

This program is divided into two parts: the first one consists of 4 weeks of Spanish group lessons at Academia Uruguay. During this period, you will learn the language and will get used to the Uruguayan culture. The Intensive Group Course consists of 20 hours of classes per week in groups no bigger than 6 students. During your time in Montevideo, you will stay with a Uruguayan family where you will have your own bedroom and will share breakfast and the dinner with the family.
As a second stage and after a 3 hours’ bus trip, you will reach the place where the owners of the ranch -a couple on their mid thirties with their toddler- will be waiting for you.
During the 4-weeks stay you will share the daily life with the family. You will have your own private room (they have a unique bedroom for students, please contact us if a couple or friends traveling together want to participate in the program). All the meals are included.
