The candidates to undergo this special training program in the exciting world of Spanish Language teaching can choose their content from 14 proposed modules (with grammatical, cultural, pedagogical and didactic content) or can propose particular themes of interest so that the course design fits their specific interests, work context and language level.
Academia Uruguay issues a booklet of materials specially selected for candidates which will be the theoretical basis for each of the classes.
The Academic coordinators, module teachers and student jointly develop this 40-hour course to deepen understanding of the specifically desired. Our methodology, based on the communicative approach, works via and inseparable combination of theoretical and practical dimensions of the SFL classroom, evidenced by the constant development of concepts via different activities, teaching strategies and planning formats. In order to achieve this, we reinforce training with the opportunity to observe classes with foreign students in our school. This quality allows the student to reflect on their learning keeping in mind the realities of the SFL classroom as the main focus.
Encouraging student autonomy, we promote self-assessment throughout the two-week course. To pass the course we require the planning of a teaching sequence or the development of an original material for the language classroom, involving most of the agenda developed over the course requested. The coordinator will make an evaluation of that final work in a report covering strengths and weaknesses, language proficiency and teaching skills. Also, a bibliography is recommended to deepen certain aspects that the student may need to revise and which will be available in case of future doubts.
